Queen Elizabeth's Hand-Knit Socks

Today is the 50th wedding anniversary of Queen Elizabeth and Prince Phillip. On this morning's news, there was a piece on the unique gifts they received 50 years ago, and the three mentioned were ... knitted hats, knitted tea cosies, and hand-knit socks!

It's their 60th anniversary. I attended (as a young kid of course, the wedding of an aunt and uncle the same day 60 years ago. Hand knits were made as necessities then.

Thanks, Merna, for that correction! I thought it was interesting that the only examples of unique wedding gifts were all hand-knit items. What a wonderful day that must have been for your family.
